2027 MINI Countryman Untamed Adds Real Off-Road Hardware, But Holds Back
Reviews·October 17, 2026

MINI is pushing the Countryman further toward the trail with the 2027 Untamed Edition, an off-road-focused version of the brand's largest model. The changes go beyond styling. The most noticeable is a 15 mm suspension lift, which raises the body for more ground clearance and gives the car room for larger wheels and tires.
Those wheels are 19-inch units wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tires, a tread designed for gravel, mud and loose surfaces rather than pure pavement grip. New underbody protection covers the parts most exposed once the pavement ends, so the undercarriage is less likely to become the weak point on rougher ground.
In the US, the Untamed Edition starts at $43,900. That makes it one of the more accessible ways to get a small crossover with genuine off-road hardware, though shoppers should check exactly what that price includes against rivals with similar equipment.
The video review that prompted this coverage lands on a mixed verdict, and its headline sums it up: the Countryman is capable, but MINI holds it back. In other words, the hardware can do more than the car's setup and character let it. For buyers who plan to actually leave the tarmac, that is the question worth testing on a trail before signing anything.
